Repost: Join an International Archaeological Tour

During 2024, the Jornada Research Institute is offering three separate archaeologically-flavored international tours. In February, it's an 11-day tour of Mayan sites of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. In late July, begin a tour of ancient sites in Scotland. In October, enjoy an 11-day tour of Greece and Ephesus, Turkey. Sign up early for one tour (or all three!) while space is still available.
OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO GCAS MEMBERS, JRI's President, Dave Greenwald, reports that JRI has developed a policy that allows them to donate to other nonprofit organizations whose member participates in one or more of their Overseas Journeys Programs. So, for example, JRI will donate $125.00 to the Grant County Archaeological Society for each tour participant who specifies that the GCAS should receive JRI's donation. Join a JRI tour, and you can support two nonprofits at once!
The JRI's President, Dave Greenwald, further describes the tours:
…Our overseas tours are heavily focused on archaeology and history. We offer these tours through our Overseas Journeys Program as part of our continuing education where we make learning awesome. The Overseas Journeys Program is also an important fund raiser to help us cover the costs of continuing excavations and analyses on the sites we are currently investigating in New Mexico....Our tours typically consist of comprehensive daily activities, designed for active people, and include professional guides with specific knowledge of each area....
...For 2024, we have organized three tours. The first is a tour of the Yucatan Peninsula focused on the Mayan World scheduled for February 5 through 15. It requires a minimum of 14 participants with a maximum of 22.
From July 29 through August 9, 2024, we will visit the northern Highlands, Lewis Island, and Orkney Island, Scotland. While this tour is focused on the prehistory of the region, we will also visit examples of castles, cathedrals, palaces and Norse/Viking-era sites. The minimum number of participants is 16 with a maximum of 22.
From October 7 to 17, we will explore Greece, with a stop at Ephesus, Turkey. This tour is a combined land tour and cruise. Prices include airfare as an option and 20 meals. The minimum number of participants is 15. We began advertising this tour last month (May 2023) and have 6 participants so far….
