NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, December 15, 2021, online via Zoom, it's the GCAS special holiday meeting starting at the very special time of 6:00 PM. It may not be a “party” in our group's traditional sense, but we anticipate having a slideshow of archaeological images of solstice markers, followed by a slideshow of the AMAZING progress on our new Library and Workspace/Lab in the Wood House at the Mimbres Culture Heritage Site, and a reading of Marilyn Markel's annual poem wrapping up the year behind us. If any member has anything they wish to contribute to the fun, be it slideshows, games, announcements, or any etc., please contact Kyle ASAP at kyyote@msn.com . The more the merrier!

NEXT FIELD TRIP = TBA - watch this space for details as they develop.

June 16, 2021: A Momentous Occasion

18 - 2d floor securedMark your calendars for 6:30 PM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, to attend the GCAS's first post-pandemic in-person general meeting! Meet at the Roundup Lodge at 91 Acklin Hill Road in Mimbres, New Mexico.  Due to ongoing renovations at the Roundup we must defer our traditional summertime potluck dinner in favor of FINGER FOOD SNACKS ONLY for yourself or to share. Your beverages must be in recyclable containers and there is no cleanup available except for what you can take home yourself or put in the trash.

Weather permitting, we will gather outdoors between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM to get reacquainted with one another after so long apart. President Kyle Meredith emphasizes that for this meeting,

"While those who have received vaccinations have little fear of contracting or transmitting the disease, the state mandate—as I understand it as of this writing—still requires everyone to wear a mask at “mass gatherings” of no more than 150 persons.  It is especially important among those who have not been vaccinated. Any risk is entirely the choice of the individual."

At 7:00 PM we will move indoors for President Kyle Meredith to begin the general meeting. Topics will include reports, announcements, past Bice awards, and a discussion of new program and field trip opportunities. After this first-time-since-March-2020 general meeting, the GCAS's own Marilyn Markel and Marianne Smith will present a PowerPoint slideshow, "MAREC: How It Started/How It's Going," featuring progress photos of the Wood House and our MAREC project. Those of you who have been following MAREC online via updates on Facebook and the GCAS website will find several never-before-seen images in this presentation.

We'll see you there!
