On December 3, 2019, Typepad - the blogging platform on which this GCAS website reaches out to all of cyberspace - will announce our nonprofit charitable organization as part of a social media blast associated with Giving Tuesday. Each year, Giving Tuesday kicks off the international holiday and end-of-year charitable season on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. In 2019, that Tuesday falls on December 3.
The GCAS is a first-time participant in Giving Tuesday this year. From 12:01 AM to 11:59 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, everyone is invited to donate to the GCAS to support the educational programs, library, and general funding we provide in furtherance of our mission of preservation and protection of our region's historic, cultural, and archaeological resources.
This year, our donors have made cash gifts to our education fund that have allowed us to continue our established educational programs to students from elementary through secondary school; and to expand our educational support to the graduate and postgraduate levels with the inaugural year of our GCAS Nancy Coinman Grant Award program. Over 18 donors have generously supported our GCAS Library with in-kind donations of a wide range of high quality archaeological and scientific volumes as well as basic office supplies. Our GCAS is very grateful for all this support from so many people in our community.
Every contribution to the GCAS benefits local students, graduate scholars pursuing their professional careers, and the general public. We of the GCAS hope to see this momentum continue. We put every dollar to immediate use wherever the need is greatest.
You can learn more about our GCAS educational programs, and make contributions on Giving Tuesday, online at our Donate Page (https://www.gcasnm.org/news/donate-now.html). Alternatively you can donate by mail by sending your check to:
Grant County Archaeological Society, c/o Giving Tuesday, PO Box 1713, Silver City, NM 88062
Whichever method you choose, thank you again for supporting the GCAS. Your donations, large or small, make a significant difference in our community.
